FotoPal Lab · For print labs and studios that print

Print fulfilment software that takes the order from gallery to dispatch.

FotoPal Lab is the print ordering and fulfilment system behind the FotoPal products. Orders placed in a FotoPal gallery are routed to a lab that can make them, batched by printer or by team, exported to the lab’s hot folder, quality-checked, packed and tracked through to dispatch. It serves print labs and studios that print their own orders.

Not on sale yet. FotoPal Lab is in testing with the founder’s own lab.

01Features

What FotoPal Lab does

  • One order system for every FotoPal product

Print orders arrive from FotoPal galleries through one order API, so a lab works one queue whichever product the order came from.

  • A queue built around the printer

Accept or reject each order, then batch the work by printer, or by team, club or pickup point so it can be handed out in one go.

    • Hot-folder export for Fujifilm Frontier, Epson SureLab, Noritsu and PDF RIP workflows
    • A checksum on every file, so what was sent is what is printed
    • ICC profile upload per printer; sRGB by default
  • Quality control and reprints

Each line is checked before it is packed. A failed print goes back for a reprint with the reason recorded, so the redo is tracked rather than remembered.

  • Packed without names on the outside

Packing slips and labels use an anonymous player reference by default, not a child’s name, unless the studio chooses otherwise. Shipping and tracking numbers are recorded against each order.

  • For studios that print

A studio can print its own orders through FotoPal Lab, set its own capabilities and rates, and compare labs where more than one can make a product.

  • For labs that want to join

Professional labs that would like to take print orders from FotoPal studios can talk to us now. Register interest and we will contact you about how joining will work.

02How it works

How an order moves through FotoPal Lab

  1. 01

    Ordered

A parent or client orders prints in a FotoPal gallery and pays at checkout.

  2. 02

    Routed

The order goes to a lab whose catalogue can make every line in it.

  3. 03

    Batched and exported

The lab accepts it, batches it with similar work, and the files drop into the printer’s hot folder.

  4. 04

    Printed and checked

Each print is checked; anything that fails goes back for a reprint.

  5. 05

    Packed and dispatched

Orders are packed with slips and labels, and tracking is recorded for the studio.

04Questions

Questions about FotoPal Lab

Plain answers to what studios ask us first. Something else? Email support@fotopal.ai.

Which printers does FotoPal Lab work with?

FotoPal Lab exports print files to hot folders, the way most lab printers already take work. It has export settings for Fujifilm Frontier, Epson SureLab and Noritsu printers and for PDF RIP workflows, and every file carries a checksum so the lab can confirm it arrived intact. ICC profiles can be uploaded per printer.

Do lab staff see children’s names?

Not by default. Packing slips and labels show an anonymous player reference rather than a name, so a child’s name is not printed on the outside of a parcel. A studio can choose to show names where its clubs or schools need them, for example to hand prints out by team.

Can a studio print its own orders?

Yes. A studio can switch on self-printing and use FotoPal Lab as its own production queue, with its own capabilities and rates, batching, quality control and packing. Where more than one lab can make a product, the studio can compare them and choose where its orders go.

How does a print lab join FotoPal Lab?

Talk to us. FotoPal Lab is in testing with the founder’s own lab, and we are speaking with professional labs about taking orders from FotoPal studios. Register interest on this page with your lab’s details and the printers you run, and we will contact you about how joining will work.

Does FotoPal Lab book couriers?

Not yet. Today the lab records the shipping method and tracking number against each order, and the studio can see them. Built-in courier bookings and label printing are not part of FotoPal Lab yet, so labs keep using their existing carrier accounts.

How much does FotoPal Lab cost?

Commercial terms for labs have not been published yet. They depend on whether you are a lab taking orders from FotoPal studios or a studio printing your own work. Register interest and we will contact you to talk it through before FotoPal Lab opens to more labs.
